ALLSTATE - PLANT MANAGER
Job Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects of the shop, including hiring and training team members, monitoring work activity, managing equipment and fabrication activities, and enforcing rules and regulations associated with the job site. They will ensure all work meets standards and is completed efficiently and on time. Implementing, growing, training, mentoring and maintaining Allstate’s safety culture in the shop is paramount!
Job Duties:
- · Ensure all Shop team members embrace the Allstate (PTTG) Safety Culture. Assures all training is conducted timely and continuously. Assures all documentation as required by the Allstate Safety procedures are followed in the safe operation of all equipment. Assures adherence to the safety program for adequate communication, including JSA, toolbox topics and near misses.
- · Direct, Plan, and Schedule all Shop activities
- · Ensure that fabricated work is inspected, audited to appropriate quality standards and Shop drawings. Assures proper documentation of Allstate Quality Control Program.
- · Ensure welding, fitting, and fabrication, standards are met on all job tasks
- Manage Shop inventory; from timely notification of needs, timely delivery, receiving, temporary storage and utilization of materials charged to jobs.
- · Maintain cost control regarding optimization of personnel, utilities, consumables, fuel, repair and maintenance of equipment, optimize equipment operation, and other costs.
- · Ensure personnel are assigned adequately and efficiently to allow optimal product flow and cost reduction
- · Coordinate Training of new team members including safety procedures
- · Interview and hire job candidates
- · Perform team member evaluations
- · Monitor work conformance with safety, quality and schedule adherence

- · Provide disciplinary actions when required
- Provide mentoring, training and cross training for continual growth of shop team members
- · Red line Shop Fabrication Drawings for proper feedback to Drafting and Engineering.
- · Implement and monitor standard processes to ensure the team is following our top priorities, safety, quality and production.
- · Implement a Continuous Improvement mindset for process improvements across all aspects of the business. Safety Culture, Product Quality, Production Improvements
- · Ensure that we are following our PM program for all equipment.
- · Assist in the budget planning for plant expenses, capital expenditures, headcount and overtime.
- Manage the shop schedule to ensure delivery to our customers on time.
- · Ensure adherence to any necessary training, and documentation for any environmental issues.
- · Monitor the use of materials and care of equipment and shop to minimize waste, wear and tear, and damage.
- · Assist with implementation and monitoring of 5S standards across the plant and office areas.
- · Ensure work and shop security procedures are followed, including all lockup requirements, freedom from theft
- Maintain time and production records.
- · Implement yard organization to optimize process and product flow
- · Ensure the conformance of the Shop fabrication work to company and industry quality standards

Qualifications:
- · Associates Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology or above
- · Warehouse, factory, or shop experience (3-5 years required)
- · Leadership experience required – (3-5 years required) have led 20 or more team members
- · Experience with blueprint reading
- · Knowledge and experience in steel fabrication industry; cutting, bending, hole punching, manual, semi-automatic and robotic welding experience a plus
- · Knowledge and experience with inventory management
- · Knowledge and experience with Microsoft office; Word, Excel and PowerPoint, AutoCad a plus
- · Knowledge and experience with Total Productive Maintenance and engineering a plus
- · Demonstrates strong leadership skills
- · Ability to work well with people at all levels
- · Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- · Knowledge of health and safety protocols
- · Manages time effectively
- · Detail-oriented
- · Demonstrates strong organizational skills
- · Able to operate heavy machinery
- · Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing/5S desired, Six Sigma Green Belt certificate a plus
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the team member is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts consistent with a fabrication shop environment. The team member is occasionally exposed to changing weather conditions and working at moderate heights. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The team member is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
